The sacred portals of Badrinath Dham were ceremoniously opened to devotees on Sunday morning, marking a significant milestone in the Char Dham Yatra 2025. The event was filled with spiritual fervor as the Indian Army’s Garhwal Rifles band played devotional music and flower petals were showered on the pilgrims.
Echoes of “Jai Badri Vishal” filled the air as thousands gathered to witness the auspicious opening. The revered Shri Badrinath temple was beautifully decorated with 40 quintals of flowers, enhancing the spiritual ambiance.
Speaking on the occasion, Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati Maharaj said, “Today, the whole country is happy. Devotees should come in large numbers to offer prayers at the Dham. Spiritual bliss awaits all who visit.”
The Char Dham Yatra officially commenced on April 30, with the portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri opening on Akshaya Tritiya. Kedarnath’s doors followed on May 2, and now with Badrinath’s opening, the full pilgrimage circuit is active.
In preparation for the large influx of pilgrims, senior police officials including Uttarakhand DGP Deepam Seth and ADG V Murugeshan conducted a review of the arrangements at Badrinath. Their inspection covered security protocols, crowd control, traffic management, and communication systems across the Yatra route.
So far, more than 22 lakh devotees have registered at the Rishikesh Transit Camp, underscoring the immense spiritual significance and popularity of the Char Dham Yatra.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized that ensuring the safety and smooth travel experience of pilgrims, particularly at Kedarnath, remains the state government’s top priority.
The Char Dham circuit—comprising Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath—is among the most revered pilgrimage routes in Hinduism. Located in the Himalayas of Uttarakhand, these shrines attract millions of devotees each summer seeking spiritual solace.
