The Intelligence Bureau (IB) has shared a list of approximately 5,000 Pakistani nationals living in Delhi with the city’s police, directing authorities to ensure their return to Pakistan. This move follows a recent directive from the Centre after the deadly terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

The Foreign Regional Registration Office (FRRO) passed the information to the Delhi Police’s special branch, which has further distributed it to the respective districts for verification and necessary action.

The list primarily consists of Pakistani nationals, with Hindu individuals holding Long Term Visas (LTVs) specifically exempted. “The list has been handed over to concerned districts for verification, and Pakistani nationals have been asked to return to their homeland. Areas like Central and North East Delhi have a particularly high concentration,” said a senior official.

Delhi Police officials, along with the IB, have been tasked with gathering detailed information on these individuals and instructing them to leave India as soon as possible. Authorities are working swiftly under direct supervision from senior officers, following an internal meeting convened to expedite the process.

An officer mentioned that two separate lists, one with 3,000 and another with 2,000 names, have been provided, though some names appear in both and are subject to verification, as many Pakistani nationals may have already left.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Friday ordered the revocation of visas for Pakistani nationals, excluding those with medical, diplomatic, and long-term visas, effective from April 27, 2025. Existing medical visas will also become invalid after April 29, 2025.

The government clarified that LTVs issued to Hindu Pakistani nationals will remain valid.

According to estimates, clusters of Pakistani nationals are primarily located near Majnu Ka Tila (around 900 people) and Signature Bridge (600-700 people) in Delhi.
