On International Women’s Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged with ‘Lakhpati Didis’ in Navsari, Gujarat, to recognize their contributions and achievements. The event, attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil, celebrated the success of women in self-help groups who have achieved a sustainable income through their hard work.

‘Lakhpati Didis’ are women who earn an annual household income of over Rs. 1,00,000, which is achieved through agricultural or business cycles. The initiative empowers women by promoting diversified livelihood activities and ensuring support from various government departments and market players.

During the event, PM Modi felicitated five Lakhpati Didis with certificates and addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of women’s empowerment. He also launched two significant programs: the G-SAFAL (Gujarat Scheme for Antyodaya Families for Augmenting Livelihoods) and G-MAITRI (Gujarat Mentorship and Acceleration of Individuals for Transforming Rural Income) initiatives.

G-SAFAL will provide financial assistance and entrepreneurial training to women from Antyodaya families in Gujarat’s aspirational districts, while G-MAITRI aims to support rural startups with financial aid and mentorship.

Earlier, PM Modi paid tribute to ‘Nari Shakti,’ acknowledging the strength and contributions of women across India. He also shared on social media that, as part of the celebrations, his platforms would be taken over by inspiring women from various fields to highlight their achievements.
