An active terrorist from Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), with direct connections to the ISI, was arrested in a joint operation by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) and Punjab Police on Thursday. The security forces recovered a cache of illegal arms and explosives, including three active hand grenades, two detonators, 13 cartridges, and one foreign-made pistol from the terrorist’s possession.
The operation took place in the Kokhraj police station area of Kaushambi district, Uttar Pradesh, around 3:20 am. According to the UP STF, the arrested individual, identified as Lajar Masih from Kurlian village in Punjab’s Amritsar, was working under Swarn Singh alias Jeevan Fauji, the head of a Germany-based BKI module, and was in direct contact with Pakistan-based ISI operatives.
Masih had previously escaped from judicial custody in Punjab on September 29, 2024.
In a statement, the UP STF confirmed the arrest, noting that Masih had been involved with BKI’s activities and was linked to multiple terrorist operations. This arrest follows recent operations, including the busting of a terror module by Punjab Police in February 2025, which was responsible for attacks in Batala and other regions.
Punjab’s Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, also confirmed the dismantling of a BKI-ISI backed terror module, solving cases related to recent attacks in the region.
