Congress Lok Sabha MP Vijay Kumar, also known as Vijay Vasanth, submitted a notice on Tuesday seeking an adjournment motion in the House to discuss the ongoing issue of rising prices. In his notice, Vijay Kumar highlighted the escalating costs of essential goods, particularly milk, vegetables, cooking oils, and other daily necessities, which are burdening millions of ordinary citizens across India.

He emphasized that the soaring cost of living is putting significant pressure on the common man, and despite the 2025 budget and ongoing policy discussions, the government has not taken meaningful steps to address inflation or provide relief to middle-class and working-class families.

“The continuous rise in prices of essential goods, especially milk, has become a daily challenge for millions of households. Over the last few months, milk prices have increased by 5-10% in various states. This has a direct impact on the daily diet of millions, yet the government has failed to take any substantial action to regulate or stabilize these prices,” Vijay Kumar said.

He warned that this unrelenting hike in prices is pushing basic nutrition out of reach for many low-income families, deepening the economic divide.

Meanwhile, Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury also filed a notice for an adjournment motion to discuss the ongoing constitutional crisis in Manipur. Chowdhury raised concerns following the resignation of Chief Minister Biren Singh, which was submitted to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Sunday, nearly two years after the state experienced violent unrest.

Chowdhury pointed out that a state in constant turmoil for almost two years cannot afford to remain without a functioning Chief Minister or caretaker.

“The Manipur Legislative Assembly must meet as required by the Constitution. According to Article 174(1) of the Indian Constitution, there should be no more than a six-month gap between the last sitting of an Assembly session and the first sitting of the next. The Union Government must explain why the Manipur Governor is violating Article 174(1) by not convening the Assembly for its constitutionally mandated session,” Renuka Chowdhury said.

She further criticized the suspension of the current Assembly session, explaining that it was declared null and void because the ruling party was unable to appoint a successor Chief Minister, fearing an imminent No-Confidence Motion from the Opposition.

Both Congress MPs are seeking urgent discussions on these critical issues that have wide-ranging impacts on the lives of ordinary citizens and the political stability of the state of Manipur.
