As voting for the Uttarakhand local body elections takes place on Thursday, people across the state have lined up outside polling booths to cast their votes. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami appealed to the citizens to help the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secure victories in the state’s municipal elections.
In his address, CM Dhami urged voters to contribute to forming a “triple-engine government” by electing all BJP candidates. “I appeal to all the people of Uttarakhand; you have always supported the BJP and formed a double-engine government. You made PM Modi the Prime Minister again. Now, I request you to ensure the victory of all BJP candidates in the municipal elections and help form a triple-engine government,” Dhami said to ANI.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the BJP has fulfilled all its promises and is working tirelessly to make Uttarakhand one of the best states in India. “We have delivered on all our commitments and are continuously striving to make Uttarakhand the best state in the country, under the leadership of PM Modi,” Dhami added.
Saurabh Thapliyal, BJP’s mayor candidate for Dehradun, also appealed to the citizens of Dehradun to participate in the election. “I urge all the citizens of Dehradun to cast their votes. This is a festival of democracy. Regardless of who you vote for, it’s important that everyone participates in this democratic process,” Thapliyal said.
Visuals from Haridwar and Dehradun showed long queues outside polling booths as citizens cast their votes for the upcoming local body elections.
The Uttarakhand local body elections will be held for 11 municipal corporations, 43 municipal councils, and 46 Nagar Panchayats across the state.
Earlier this week, CM Dhami had urged the people to vote for BJP’s mayor candidate Saurabh Thapliyal in Dehradun and all BJP councillor candidates. Speaking at an OBC conference in Dehradun, Dhami underscored the BJP government’s commitment to uplifting the exploited, deprived, and backward classes, stressing that the benefits of various public welfare schemes are reaching all sections of society.
As the voting continues, CM Dhami’s call for a strong mandate reflects the BJP’s strategy to further strengthen its presence at the local level in Uttarakhand.
