The Mumbai Police Crime Branch has formed 20 teams to apprehend the suspect involved in the attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan at his Bandra residence. The incident, which occurred early Thursday morning, left the actor with serious injuries, prompting an extensive investigation by the police.

The police have intensified their search efforts, interrogating individuals found roaming late at night and questioning people with prior criminal records. During these investigations, officers have been showing CCTV footage of the suspect to identify him. On Thursday night, over 15 individuals were brought in for questioning.

CCTV footage from the Bandra area has been seized, and three persons of interest are currently being interrogated. However, no arrests have been made so far.

Actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan’s wife, recorded her statement with the Bandra Police on Friday evening at her residence in the presence of officers. The police have also recorded over 30 statements in connection with the case, including those of Saif’s staff members, who were earlier summoned for questioning.

The auto-rickshaw driver who rushed Saif to Lilavati Hospital provided a detailed account of the incident. Speaking to ANI, he recounted how he intervened after hearing calls for help near the actor’s residence.

“I drive my vehicle at night. Around 2-3 a.m., I saw a woman trying to hire an auto, but no one stopped. I heard calls for a rickshaw from inside the gate, so I took a U-turn and stopped near the gate. A man covered in blood came out, along with 2-4 others, and they got into the auto. I took them to Lilavati Hospital. Later, I realized it was Saif Ali Khan. He was bleeding from his neck and back,” the driver, identified as Rana, told ANI.

The incident took place inside Saif Ali Khan’s 11th-floor flat when an intruder allegedly confronted the actor’s maid. As Saif intervened to de-escalate the situation, the altercation turned violent, resulting in the actor being stabbed multiple times.

Saif was immediately rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where doctors performed surgery to treat his injuries. A knife, with a 2.5-inch blade, was lodged in his spine, causing significant damage to his thoracic spinal cord and leading to a spinal fluid leak. Surgeons successfully removed the blade and repaired the injury.

According to doctors, Saif is now “out of danger” but remains under close observation due to the severity of his injuries.

Mumbai Police have assured the public that every effort is being made to apprehend the attacker. “We are committed to solving this case swiftly and ensuring justice,” an official stated. Investigations continue as officers work around the clock to identify and locate the suspect.
