AAP’s Sanjay Singh Accuses BJP of Politicizing School Bomb Threat Case

AAP MP Sanjay Singh on Tuesday accused the BJP of politicizing the bomb threats received by Delhi schools in May 2024, claiming the ruling party is using the issue for electoral gains ahead of the Delhi assembly elections.

“You [BJP] are politicizing the issue of school children receiving threats. The first threat was reported in May 2024, yet the Delhi Police have remained silent for nine months. Now, just 15 days before the elections, BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi is narrating fabricated stories in a press conference,” Singh alleged.

The comments come after the BJP increased its criticism of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) following Delhi Police’s recent announcement that its investigation into the bomb threats led to a juvenile suspect.

“Earlier today, you must have seen Delhi Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Trivedi holding a press conference and disclosing new details about the case. It’s ironic because the Delhi Police, which stayed silent for 10 months, is now revealing information conveniently close to the elections,” Singh remarked, adding that the BJP is using the situation to spread misinformation.

In response, BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi accused AAP of having connections with “unwanted NGOs and anti-national activities.”

“Everyone knows Aam Aadmi Party’s deep ties with certain NGOs and their involvement in activities like the hanging of Afzal Guru and anti-national slogans like ‘Tukde-Tukde’ raised in February 2015,” Trivedi alleged. He also questioned whether any NGOs linked to the bomb threat case had ties to AAP.

Trivedi demanded clarification from AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, saying, “Kejriwalji keeps making baseless remarks, but today I challenge him to explain the connections his party might have with those involved in the bomb threat case uncovered by Delhi Police.”

The bomb threats have become a contentious issue in the run-up to the Delhi Assembly elections, scheduled for February 5, with results to be announced on February 8. While the BJP has intensified its attacks on AAP, the latter accuses the BJP of exploiting sensitive issues to influence voters.

The investigation into the bomb threats remains ongoing, with the Delhi Police yet to release further details about the juvenile suspect or other potential connections.
