Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Mumbai on January 15, where he will meet with the MLAs of the BJP-led Mahayuti government, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced.
“PM Modi will guide the Mahayuti MLAs during his visit to Mumbai,” Shinde said after a party meeting. “The people have given us a landslide mandate, increasing our responsibility. During today’s meeting, we discussed the party’s organization, key decisions, and the upcoming local body elections. The Prime Minister’s continuous support has been instrumental in our government’s success over the last two and a half years, which is why we achieved such a huge majority,” Shinde added.
During his Mumbai visit, PM Modi will dedicate three major naval combatants—INS Surat, INS Nilgiri, and INS Vaghsheer—to the nation at the Naval Dockyard. Their commissioning marks a significant milestone in India’s journey towards becoming a global leader in defense manufacturing and maritime security, according to an official release from the Prime Minister’s Office.
Key Highlights of the Naval Combatants:
- INS Nilgiri: The first ship of the P17A Stealth Frigate Project, INS Nilgiri features advanced stealth, survivability, and seakeeping technologies. Designed by the Indian Navy’s Warship Design Bureau, it represents the next generation of indigenous frigates.
- INS Surat: The fourth and final ship of the P15B Guided Missile Destroyer Project, INS Surat is one of the largest and most advanced destroyers globally, boasting 75% indigenous content and state-of-the-art weapon-sensor packages with network-centric capabilities.
- INS Vaghsheer: The sixth and final submarine of the P75 Scorpene Project, INS Vaghsheer underscores India’s growing expertise in submarine construction. It has been developed in collaboration with France’s Naval Group.
In addition to his engagements at the Naval Dockyard, PM Modi will inaugurate the Sri Sri Radha Madanmohanji Temple, an ISKCON project located in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai. Spanning nine acres, the project includes a temple with multiple deities, a Vedic education center, proposed museums, an auditorium, and a healing center. It aims to foster universal brotherhood, peace, and harmony through Vedic teachings.
The Prime Minister’s visit to Mumbai is set to showcase India’s progress in defense, spirituality, and governance, reflecting his administration’s commitment to development and national pride.
