Prashant Kishor, founder of “Jan Suraaj” and widely known as PK, has expressed his support for the “One Nation, One Election” initiative proposed by the central government. Speaking on Friday, he outlined the potential advantages of the policy, emphasizing its role in reducing the time and financial resources spent on frequent elections.

Kishor pointed out that synchronizing elections could significantly reduce the wastage of public funds and state resources. He noted that nearly one-fourth of the population is engaged in election-related activities each year, which could be streamlined if elections were conducted in one or two phases.

However, Kishor stressed that the success of “One Nation, One Election” depends on the government’s intentions. “If the government’s intent is clear and aimed at benefiting the nation, this initiative will achieve its purpose,” he said. On the other hand, he warned that the effort could fail if the motive is to harm or target a specific section of society.

He also highlighted the need for a phased implementation, recommending a transition period of four to five years, as implementing such a major reform in one step would be impractical.
